We all have times when feeding our family is hard and most of us will never ask for help. Don't give me that, you too;).  Our society has made us so embarrassed to ask for the help we need and that's a shame. When we hear about hunger we immediately think of people in third world country or below the poverty level. The reality is when you look in the mirror you just saw the face of the new possible undernourished.

Undernourished

Being undernourished can happen from
1 of 3 things happing.
  1. None or not enough food to eat: If this is the case you need assistance. Your hunger qualifies you.
  2. Eating the wrong foods. You may have a child or elderly family member that is not served foods with the proper nutrients or and they may not be getting the proper nutrients at home either. no  one to bring them food
  3. Choosing to eat foods with no nutritional value

Hungry and undernourished people live right here in the USA; millions of them and most of them will never ask for food assistance:
  • Elderly
  • Home owners
  • Underemployed
  • Self Employed

About 85% of Americans do not consume the US Food and Drug Administration’s recommended daily intakes of the most important vitamins and minerals necessary for proper physical and mental development.

Obesity on the Rise in the USA

Obesity may be on the rise in the U.S but guess what. Many of the obese are going to the food banks regularly and are given processed food to live  on.  Processed and sugary foods cause obesity.

This is what I read while on the Mother Earth News. "It’s a paradox of modern culture: Though more than a third of us are classified as overweight or obese, and though more than 3,700 calories of food are available daily for every person in the United States, many of us still don’t get enough of some essential nutrients, including potassium, calcium and vitamin D. This paradox, in which we are overfed and undernourished, is sometimes called nutrient deficiency " https://www.motherearthnews.com/natural-health/nutrition/nutrient-deficiency-zm0z13jjzmat

Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them.
Dalai Lama
I want to add to that quote: and when we are strong; we help again.

Don't allow you or your family to be without the healthy foods especially if there are children or the elderly involved. I understand how hard it is to ask for help, I've been there and it took years to become humble enough to get the help I needed. Thanks to that experience I can relate to those that are in this predicament. After my health issued prevented me from working I became needy and embarrassed.

My days became longer as my bills grew and the helplessness consumed me. I had people that would be able to help but I was too embarrassed to ask. I understand what it feels like to make a choice between medication and food. I understand how it feel to not be able to afford a roof over your head. I know what it feels like to not have a job or any source of income. I understand how hard it can be to ask for help because of the judgment you don't want to endure.... Change the stigma of what those needing help with food looks like. Be brave and get help. No Excused or Apologies... It can happen to anyone.

"Our purpose is to help others and when we can't get help until we are strong enough to help again."
